2023 Golden Globes predictions: What will win the film and TV races?

The Golden Globes are hoping for a comeback for her comeback with host Jerrod Carmichael, and maybe a few winners that the industry and the public will approve of.

As film awards season enters phase two, with voting for the Oscar nomination opening on Thursday, January 12, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has an opportunity to create some clout with its winners. Searchlight Pictures’ Irish comedy “The Banshees of Inisherin” leads the way with eight names, followed closely by A24’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” with six. The best picture battle (comedy or musical) will be one of the hottest of the night.

On the drama side, it might be an easy tick box selection for Universal Pictures’ “The Fabelmans” in Best Picture (Drama), but Warner Bros.’ “Elvis” and “Top Gun: Maverick” from Paramount Pictures are popular with most HFPA voters.

On the television side, the HFPA likes freshman shows and has rarely opted for the final “coronation” narrative. It’s a place where HBO’s “House of the Dragon” or Apple’s “Severance” can dominate dramatic runs, while in comedy, watch out for ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” or FX’s “The Bear.” to be the dormant choices.
