According to Green, he was hanging out backstage in the green room with his mom and some… SNL cast members when he asked to change the channel on television. Eddie Murphy told him that was fine, but he had to do it himself by climbing on planks to get to the button. “So Bill Murray hosted the show, and as everyone knows, he’s great with kids! He saw me sitting on the arm of this chair and made a big fuss about me sitting in his chair. And I thought, ‘That’s absurd. I’m sitting on the armrest of this sofa. There are different lengths of this sofa. Please leave.” And he said, ‘That’s my chair.'”

Green says another child actor who attended pointed out that this “the Bill Murray”, to which Green replied: “the Bill Murray? At the time, Green’s mother suggested the 9-year move, but his reluctance to switch seats led Murray to reportedly lash out.

“My mom says, ‘Because he’s the Bill Murray, maybe you should give him his seat.’ And I go, “Listen, I’ve never been so outraged to hear that the armrest of this chair… are you such a jerk? You’re so rude to tell a 9-year-old to get out of your… what’s this power game?’ He lifted me up by my ankles, held me upside down. You have to remember, when I was nine years old, I was probably under five feet. So he dangled me over a trash can, and he said, ‘The trash goes in the trash!’ And I screamed! Shout! And I waved my arms, waved wildly, full contact with his balls, full contact. He dropped me in the trash. The trash can calls over. I was shocked. I ran and hid under the table in my dressing room and just cried and cried.”

Green says the show got going again when Murphy and Tim Kazurinsky entered his dressing room. They told Green that “everyone knows Bill’s ad*ck” and asked the child actor if… he could be the pro by doing the segment. This made Green feel better, and although he hasn’t seen Murray since, he says he bumped into Murphy years later, and was shocked to learn that he SNL situation.

“He said, ‘You climbed on that thing and changed the channel.’ Couldn’t even believe it. And he said, ‘Congratulations.'”
