What to expect when you are pregnant showed the lives of five couples navigating the difficult challenges of parenting. After she was unable to conceive a child, Lopez’s character Holly Castillo made the decision to adopt a boy from abroad. But to Holly’s surprise, her husband Alex wasn’t quite ready to be a father yet. What to expect when you are pregnant had a star-studded cast that included Cameron Diaz and Elizabeth Banks, but Lopez was in some of the film’s funniest and most impactful moments.

In 2005, Lopez led the cast of Clean monster as Charlie Cantilini. She came into conflict with Viola Fields (Jane Fonda), who feared losing her son and tried to cancel her son and Charlie’s marriage. It was an interesting dynamic for a rom-com, allowing for absolute chaos. Clean monster was not without flaws, but his over-the-top character proved well suited for a comedy. With Lopez and Matthew McConaughey, The Wedding Planner was certainly not the best-received romantic comedy ever made. However, it is still beloved by fans who have enjoyed watching the movie since 2001. Lopez played Mary Fiore, the titular wedding planner, with all sorts of mischief that came from planning the wedding of the man she had affection for. Those who could see past the predictable plot found a comfort film that didn’t take itself too seriously.

Shall we Dance? focused on John Clark, a successful lawyer who seemingly had everything. Finally, he realized that something was missing from his life and discovered a love for dancing through the beautiful Paulina (Lopez). With the word “dance” prominent in the title, it was fortunate that the film excelled in the dance department. Besides the music and dance, it was really the comedy that gave the film its power.

DreamWorks Casts Lopez in the Voice of Lucy Tucci for Their 2015 Animation Adventure House. Lucy was the mother of Tip (voiced by Rihanna), a teenage girl who befriended a purple alien and social outcast, Oh. House succeeded as an animated comedy by embracing the playful elements, while also being sweet and heartwarming. The film told a simple story of friendship that struck emotionally with viewers of all ages.

3/8 Marry me

Released early 2022, Marry me was a straightforward rom-com released at a time when Hollywood hardly ever makes new rom-coms. The film followed a pop star named Kat Valdez (Lopez), who would marry her fiancé on stage. After discovering her fiancé was having an affair, Kat chose to marry one of the crowd, math teacher Charlie Gilbert (Owen Wilson).

While Marry me definitely had the silliness and cheese that might put off some viewers, it was also sweet, lighthearted and funny. Those looking for a super original comedy couldn’t find it in Marry me, but the film accomplished pretty much everything it set out to achieve. On top of that, Marry me also to see a decent soundtrack.

2/8 Hustlers

Lopez didn’t just play in Hustlers, she also produced the film through her company Nuyorican Productions. Centering on a crew of exotic New York City dancers taking money from the Wall Street elite, Hustlers was both effective heist drama and comedy. The cast was excellent, with names like Lopez, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer and even performers Lizzo and Cardi B. Hustlers received recognition for its thoughtful script and strong performances, but also brought a much-needed women’s perspective with Lorene Scafaria in the director’s chair.

1/8 Out of sight

Out of sight stood as a major highlight in Lopez’s film career. The film had an impressive cast, with Lopez alongside George Clooney, Ving Rhames and Don Cheadle. An R-rated crime drama from the late 90s, Out of sight masterfully mixed comedy with action and romance. Lopez was perfect in the role of US Marshal Karen Sisco and had a great chemistry with Clooney on screen. Sharp, witty dialogues, a captivating plot and plenty of stylish charm made Out of sight very nice to watch.
