10 important things to know if you haven’t seen the Netflix series yet

After four long years, the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen has returned and made his official MCU introduction, and he’s as awesome as ever. Fans got a taste of their favorite Netflix hero when he surprisingly appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and were sure that Charlie Cox was indeed playing the hero they had lost. Nearly a year later, fans officially saw him back in action in both halves of his justice-seeking lifestyle in She-Hulk: Lawyer, when he quickly defeated the titular hero in court. Matt later teamed up with her to deal with some seriously misguided culprits when they kidnapped his client. Many were unsure about how Matt Murdock would be portrayed now that the character is officially part of the MCU, but they can rest easy now because he’s in safe hands.

It has been confirmed that the version of the character in She-Hulk is indeed the same character from the (formerly) Netflix original series daredevil. Cox will soon return in his own Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again in the spring of 2024. Until then, fans have some catching up to do as they prepare for the big re-debut. The first three seasons of daredevil are on Disney+ now, and they’re very unlike anything else that’s landed on the streamer. Here are ten important things to know if you haven’t seen the Netflix series yet.

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

10/10 The show is gritty, grounded and dark

When daredevil first premiered in 2015, it was immediately apparent that it was unlike anything else on the superhero scene. Its dark noir aesthetic, gritty action, storytelling, and grounding set it apart from everything else in the MCU. It was a series without limits that went to places other heroes dared not go, with much bloodshed and carnage that brought the hero closer to Game of Thrones then The Avengers. Matt Murdock is great, but he’s not indestructible like most Avengers. His senses are at their peak, but he really is a human who can be hurt, which makes the series feel more risky. The most important is, daredevil offers what was once the most mature story for a hero in any medium, giving a hands-on look at the life of a hero battling criminals and his own dark impulses to keep himself separate from the men he tries to defeat.

9/10 Three seasons of story

daredevil pushed for three action-packed seasons before the series was unceremoniously canceled, but despite what this might entail, the storytelling was one of the most well-crafted and action-packed of any series on TV. daredevil has a good pace and takes its time with its story, giving fans plenty of time to breathe and understand the characters and plot, while never losing a beat in action or progression. In some ways, each season felt like it could be the last, with high stakes and huge finales that made you wonder what might come next, but the show only grew as time went on, and Matt pushed in ways that made him both physically and mentally fit. as mentally tested and spiritually as he explored New York’s dark underbelly to eradicate the darkest evil to roam in the shadows.

8/10 Feud with Wilson Fisk

One of the driving forces that have made daredevil amazing was Matt Murdock’s intense rivalry with Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. Fisk came from a rough background that shaped him into the man he is today. Unfortunately for him, his methods put him on a brutal collision course with Daredevil. The series delves into the feud, revealing the root of the animosity between the two, with their beef only getting more deadly as time goes on. Fisk’s tenacity and menacing nature are so powerful that he even drives Matt to lose sight of his morals when he struggles against him. Fans were overjoyed when Vincent D’Onofrio returned to the character of hawkeye, but they were less happy with the way he was treated. One of the biggest questions in the new series is whether he will be portrayed as intensely as ever as he continues his war with Daredevil.

7/10 Opened the door for other heroes

daredevil was just the beginning of the Marvel Netflix universe as it spawned five other series, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, Iron Fistand The defenders. The first three shows were successful in their own right and stood on their own from daredevil while sharing the same universe. iron fist Wasn’t much fun for several reasons. Each of these heroes together (minus The Punisher) eventually came together to form their own street-level Avengers team in The defenders, where the four gathered to fight The Hand, but more on that later. None of them got their start in daredevil, but the Punisher does. The two have a very complicated relationship in the comics, and they do in the series. Both men are considered heroes, but they couldn’t be more different from each other. The next item explains why.

6/10 Faith and No Kill Policy

One of Daredevil’s signature traits is that he doesn’t kill. Not only that, but he doesn’t allow anyone else to kill. It’s a moral he stands adamantly behind, but one that is most tested throughout the series. More than once he has considered killing Kingpin to end his reign of terror, but he can always come back to his senses in the moment of truth. The closest he came to doing it in season two, when he threw an enemy off the roof and pulled in the line that would have saved him, but Matt must have known he would survive as he got right back up. The Punisher was another person who prompted Matt to break his code. The two clashed over the proper way to send criminals and Matt was horrified by the methods Frank used to do so. It’s one of their main points of contention in the comics. Maybe it will be carried over to the MCU?

5/10 Complicated love life

One thing has remained constant with Matt in all three seasons of daredevil is that his love life can be a bit tricky. It makes sense because it can’t be easy to pursue a love life, career and vigilante at the same time. So far he has had affairs with Claire Temple, Karen Page, Elektra Natchios and most recently Jennifer Walters. Most notably, Matt has an on/off thing with Elektra, a warrior in her own right. Where things get tricky between them is that she also doesn’t share Matt’s moral compass and kills enemies without mercy. Despite this and her sometimes hostile ways, Matt can’t seem to keep himself away, no matter how much it hurts him in the end. In addition to his romantic relationships, he also has very tense dynamics with a man named Stick, his mentor and father figure growing up. He is the oldest part of Matt’s other life and the man who led him to justice, but Stick would rather Matt use his skills for other purposes.

4/10 The hand

One of Daredevil’s oldest enemies and one he faces in the series is the group known as The Hand, an ancient organization of warriors seeking both new and old power. They used to be one solid unit, but long ago disintegrated into factions and occasionally found themselves facing each other, only reuniting when their goals align. This group is powerful and has connections to many facets of organized crime. Stick is another enemy of the organization, although his methods of fighting them are on the controversial side. They serve as the main antagonists for daredevil season two and The defendersbut given the events that took place in the crossover, it is unknown if they will return for Born again and further.

3/10 Matt’s personal life

The facet of Matt’s life that keeps him grounded is his personal relationships. He runs his own law firm with his best friend and roommate Franklin “Foggy” Nelson and Karen Page, a self-made journalist. One of Matt’s biggest internal struggles is balancing the two halves of his life and preventing one from leaking into the other, but that only gets harder with time. As a lawyer, he works with his friends to bring justice to the less fortunate in Hell’s Kitchen, taking on his enemies during the day while using more direct methods to administer justice at night. Things can get a little tense if he fails to keep a cap on his other side. He often quarrels with his friends and more than once runs the risk of losing them completely because of his exploits. As said before, having a personal life is not easy for a hero.

2/10 Great action

Another important factor that determines: daredevil apart from every other tv show were the amazing fight scenes. Everyone knows the famous one gang fight scene in season one, where Matt takes on dozens of bad guys in one go. It was the first real display of the character’s raw strength and abilities in New York’s dark underbelly, and he was seriously injured at the time while doing so. This one scene showed Daredevil’s hard hitting action at its best. No other MCU property has been able to replicate daredevil‘s stunning choreography and cinematography, though they tried. Fans will hold their breath to see if the new Disney+ series retains these elements of the series as much She-Hulk show was full of CGI, but Kevin Feige has always had his finger on the pulse of what fans want, so maybe they can rest assured on that.

1/10 Place in the MCU

With Daredevil in the MCU, fans are heavily speculating on how Marvel will interact with his character and previous storylines. The Netflix series ended with a lot of questions. Will Matt continue his rivalry with Bullseye? Will Elektra and Punisher return to cause more trouble in Hell’s Kitchen, and will fans see the return of the rest of the Defenders gang? Fans also want to know how Wilson Fisk got out of prison after Matt’s threat at the end of season three and what Daredevil was up to in the five years after Thanos’ fatal snap. It’s a new day for Marvel’s favorite nighttime crime fighter, but there’s one many pressing questions need to be answered. As per the season finale of She-HulkFeige does indeed listen and knows what everyone wants. Time will tell how the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen will be used to advance in the multiverse saga.
