Karan Johar reveals Jaya Bachchan criticised his hosting skills; asked him, ‘Why are you shouting?’

Filmmaker Karan Johar is often regarded as the perfect host, be it on Bigg Boss OTT or award shows. He is usually praised by fans and celebrities. However, veteran actor Jaya Bachchan is not a fan of hosting skills. As KJo gears up for the release of his hit chat show Koffee With Karan 7, he revealed that he once received the worst criticism from Jaya Bachchan, who scolded him for speaking too loudly into the microphone. “That I talk too loud when I’m on stage, even though there’s a microphone. This aunt of Jaya once told me. She said, ‘Karan, you’re on the microphone, why are you yelling?’ I was like, I’m trying to be energetic. She said you have a microphone and that’s what it’s for, you don’t have to yell when you’re talking,” Karan told Pinkvilla in an interview. A few months ago, Karan had made fun of Jaya Bachchan and her comparison to the paparazzi for clicking her photos without her permission. Recently Karan also opened up about Koffee. Karan is ridiculed, trolled and becomes the center of controversy generating industry controversy. “There was a lot of hate on social media towards Bollywood at one point and Koffee with Karan popped up as one of the targets… But I knew even then that this is all virtual, it’s not real. It’s not really the truth because why would Disney Hotstar want to do the show, why would actors want to be on the show?’

“Why should I still be interested in it? I think we were all on the same page. And so we realized that all this negative chatter was just that — it was a mirage. It didn’t really exist. None at all,” he added.

The trailer for Koffee With Karan 7 was revealed on Saturday. It provided a glimpse of some of the Bollywood stars who will grace the sofa and fight for the coveted coffee basket. Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Devarakonda, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani are featured in the show.
