Actress Anna Faris has spoken of the suffering of director Ivan Reitman’s ‘reign of terror’ during her filming My super ex-girlfriend. In the 2006 comedy film, Faris played a girl with super powers who gets dumped by her boyfriend and then ruins his life, but she says it wasn’t the best movie experience due to a large amount of inappropriate behavior from Ghostbusters helmsman Reitman.
This isn’t the first time Faris has made these claims, but it’s the first time she’s linked them to the late director, who passed away in February. While I’m talking about her Anna Faris is not qualified podcast, the actress told her guest, Lena Dunham, about how Reitman “limped” [her] ass,” “screamed” at her, making her time working on the film a horrible experience. She said:
“One of my most difficult movie experiences was with Ivan Reitman. I mean, the idea of making a comedy under this reign of terror, he was a screamer. He would take someone down every day… and my first day it was me.”
Dunham noted that she believed that Faris was not “the first person” to comment on this kind of behavior from Reitman, to which Faris replied that “it was, like, 2006”, and she had not believed that his actions were anything that she could. report or talk at that time.
Anna Faris previously spoke about the same incident
After the many accusations against Harvey Weinstein at the beginning of the #MeToo movement, many stories and allegations were made about abuse and unacceptable behavior from a number of producers, directors and stars. Faris spoke about her experience with Reitman in 2017, but did not specifically name the director when making her claims. On her podcast in October of that year, she noted that she was filming a scene on a ladder when the then-unnamed director [her] ass for the crew so hard. And everything [she] could do was giggle.” She went on:
“I remember looking around and I remember seeing the crew members say, ‘Wait, what are you going to do about that? That seemed strange.’ And so I rejected it. I was like, ‘Well, this is nothing. Like, it’s not such a big deal. Cheer up, Faris. Just giggle.’ But it made me feel small. He wouldn’t have done that to the main man.”
At the same time, the actress also claimed that her agent was told she was only getting the part in My super ex-girlfriend because she had ‘big legs’. She then noted:
“Listen, that’s a great compliment. I like my legs. But that kind of informed my entire experience with that whole project. I don’t think the male lead was hired because he had great legs. That’s why I felt I was hired because of these elements – not because of [talent].”
Ivan Reitman made some of the greatest comedies of the 80s and beyond, such as: Ghostbusters and Twinsand he acted as producer on Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which was released just months before his death. He was also working on tripletsA continuation on Twinsat the time of his passing.
