Chelsea Handler will host the 2023 Critics Choice Awards

Chelsea Handler has been tapped to host the 2023 Critics Choice Awards. The multi-hyphenate comedian will take the stage live in January.

The Critics’ Choice Association announced the news Thursday, praising Handler’s “humor and candor,” which “have established her as one of the most celebrated voices in entertainment and pop culture.” Last year, Handler herself won “The Comedy Act of 2021” at the People’s Choice Awards for her “Vaccinated and Horny” stand-up tour.

“We’re thrilled to have Chelsea Handler join us at the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards,” Critics Choice Association CEO Joey Berlin said in a statement. “We all know and love her work as a comedian, best-selling author, podcast host, and actress, and now as the host of the Critics Choice Awards! I know this will be the best year yet and I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have in store.”

This year’s Critics Choice Awards will take place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on January 15 and will air live on The CW from 7 pm to 10 pm ET (Delayed Pacific Time). The 28th annual ceremony will be produced by Bob Bain Productions and Berlin Entertainment.

The Critics Choice Awards honor the best in television and film, and have historically been one of the most accurate predictors of Oscar nominations each year.

This year, the Critics Choice Association will also host the 5th Annual Celebration of Black Film and Television on December 5 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel, the 2nd Annual Celebration of Latino Film and Television on December 13 November at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel and the inaugural celebration of Asian Pacific Cinema & Television on November 4 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel.
