HBO Max dropped the trailer for “The Big Brunch” from creator Dan Levy, who also serves as host and judge. The series, which airs its first three episodes on November 10, highlights 10 undiscovered community-oriented chefs from across the country competing for a $300,000 cash prize.
Chef Sohla El-Veli and restaurateur Will Guidara will host with the Emmy winner “Shit’s Creek”.
Unlike the more throbbing cooking competition series, “The Big Brunch” is about the connections between the food and the sharing of each chef’s personal journey. At the top of the trailer, one of the chefs says, “As a chef, you wear three hats: you are a mentor, you are a coach and then you are a chef.”
Levy then introduces the show’s concept: brunch “the ultimate connector, the perfect convergence of food, comfort, and friendship.” Competitive chefs who exemplify this concept are “striving to improve their communities by connecting people to food.”
On a rich variety of cuisines from different cultures, chefs share their struggles and their inspirations to present to the judges. Apart from the mouth-watering food, there is no dearth of tear-jerking moments.
“We’re becoming this family,” Levy says. “It’s really pretty.”
The show by Boardwalk Pictures and Levi’s Not a Real production company is executive produced by Levi, Andrew Fried, Dan Lillegaard, Sarina Roma and Faye Stapleton.
After a three-episode debut on November 10, the next three episodes will premiere on November 17 and the final two episodes will be released on November 24.
