veteran actor Danny Trejo celebrates the holidays in a special way this year. Trejo, who was recently featured in the Star Wars series Boba Fett’s book, has been officially announced as the 90th Anniversary Grand Marshal of the Hollywood Christmas Parade Supporting Marine Toys for Tots, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary. According to a press release, the parade will be presented by Associated Television International on the streets of Hollywood on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at 6:00 PM PST.
“Wow! I am honored to represent Los Angeles,” Trejo said in a statement on the news. “As a kid growing up in the San Fernando Valley, I never thought I’d be the Grand Marshal of the Hollywood Christmas Parade. Then and now I still love cruising the streets of Hollywood. What an incredible honor !”
Lieutenant General James B. Laster, the president and CEO of Marine Toys for Tots, added, “We are excited to partner with the Hollywood Christmas Parade for our 75th anniversary as it is here in Los Angeles where we started our operation years ago. And today we are proud to continue our mission to bring much-needed Christmas gifts and cheer the less fortunate.”
The Hollywood Christmas Parade is hosted by Erik Estrada, Laura McKenzie, Dean Cain and Montel Williams. Elizabeth Stanton serves as a special co-host. According to the official description, the parade features Hollywood celebrities and movie cars, award-winning bands from around the country, dazzling riders, life-size character balloons, colorful floats, and humorous special acts. The parade culminates with the appearance of the Jolly Old Elf himself, Santa Claus and his reindeer, ushering in the holiday season!”
Danny Trejo is a cinema legend
Over the decades, Danny Trejo has appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows. This includes a starring role in the cult favorites Machete and machete kills as the titular hero, as well as recurring roles on the TV shows Sons of Lawlessness, Breaking Bad, King of the Hilland The flash. He was also recently spotted in the Star Wars universe by appearing in Boba Fett’s book on Disney+.
More recently, Trejo appeared in the movie Green Spirit and the Masters of the Stone. Trejo spoke to MovieWeb about the project and told us what attracted him to this project. He commented on how much he enjoyed the screenplay and appreciated how this movie gave him the chance to reunite with cast members who he loves.
“I got the script and thought it was funny. I’ve worked with the cast before, Marko is a good friend – he makes things in The Matrix look like kids are playing – and it was a fun movie. And I love it when I’m the hero at the end,” Trejo told us. “Charlie Clark is a bit bumbling at first and then ends up being an incredible hero. It carries a message of faith in yourself and family.”
