“The Big Bang Theory” spinoff won primetime Thursday in both major demos and viewership across all networks
CBS under the tutelage of its “Big Bang Theory” spinoff “Young Sheldon” topped the class Thursday night ratings. The half-hour comedy won both the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and overall average viewership across all networks and primetime hours.
According to Nielsen’s Live Plus same-day data, the broadcast network scored 0.39 in the main demo and garnered an average of 4.8 million viewers. Opening at 8 p.m., ‘Young Sheldon’ garnered 0.55 points in ratings and 6.8 million overall average viewers. “Ghosts” aired at 8:30 p.m., winning 0.51 in the demo and averaging 6.1 million viewers in its half-hour. At 9 p.m., “So Help Me Todd” received 0.32 in ratings and averaged 4.3 million viewers. The night ended with “CSI: Vegas” at 10 p.m., which received a 0.3 rating score and averaged 3.6 million viewers.

Here’s how primetime fell short at the major broadcasters:
1 in the school followed by CBS was ABC, which came in as salutatorian in both ratings and total viewers, with 0.38 and 3.5 million viewers in demos. At 8 p.m., “Station 19” heats up the night with scores of 0.44 and 3.9 million total average viewers. Then, an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” peaked at 0.49 in the demo and averaged 3.6 million viewers. At 10 p.m., the Hilary Swank journalist drama “Alaska Daily” clocked 0.21 in demos and averaged 2.9 million viewers.
NBC was ranked third in ratings and overall average viewership, due to repeat episodes of the “Law & Order” franchise, which were estimated to have seen a two-tenth cut in overall demos from the previous week (0.5 to 0.3). Went. The network netted 2.5 million viewers in total. Across all three major series, NBC declined in both viewership and ratings from one million to 1.5 million and about two-tenths in demos per show, respectively.
Fourth in the ratings and overall average viewers was Fox, 0.28 in the demo and 1.5 million, similar to the previous week. “Hell’s Kitchen” swept with an average of 0.38 and 1.9 million viewers. Rounding out the night were “Welcome to Fletch” and “Call Me Cat”, which dropped two-tenths in ratings from the competition show hosted by Gordon Ramsay, scoring 0.17 and 0.18, respectively, and a total of 830,000 and 1.1. The CW ranked fifth in performance and viewership at 0.07 and 602,000, with back-to-back hour-long broadcasts of “Walker” and its prequel “Walker: Independence”. The former attracted 0.08 and 694,000 total average viewers, while the latter received between 0.05 and 510,000.

Among Spanish-language networks, Univision was in the first demo with an average audience of 0.4 and 1.3 million in primetime. “La Herencia, un legado de amor” received a demo rating of 0.5 and “Los Ricos Tambián Loran” at 8 p.m. received 1.4 million total viewers, aired from 9 to 10, 0.4 in the demo and 1.4 million total viewers. A new episode of “La Madras” at 10 pm ended with a 0.3 rating and an average of 1.1 million total viewers.
Telemundo came in second, with an average 0.3 demo rating and an average of 1.1 million total viewers. “Exatalon”, which aired from 7 to 9 pm, managed a 0.2 demo rating and 936,000 viewers. There was “La Reina del Sur” at 9 p.m., which got 0.4 in the demo and 1.3 million overall average viewers. “El Fuego del Destino” closed the night from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a 0.3 demo rating and 917,000 total viewers.
