Earlier today, we reported that Jacqueline Fernandez will appear in the Delhi court in connection with the Sukesh Chandrashekhar case. The actress was recently granted provisional bail after which the court requested a response from the ED to the bail request. The latest update on that is that the Enforcement Directorate has filed their statement alleging that the actress was uncooperative and that she was trying to flee the country to avoid investigation.
Jacqueline Fernandez is accused of fleeing the country to destroy evidence
In a charge filed by the ED, officials had named Jacqueline Fernandez as the accused, despite her constant claim that she was a witness and victim in the case. The actress was also questioned for more than eight hours about her involvement and relationship with Sukesh Chandrashekhar. In the recent statement filed in response to Jacqueline’s plea, the ED stated that the actress had attempted to tamper with the evidence and even deleted data from her phone. The ED also added that she did not cooperate with authorities during the investigation. They further claimed that the actress was on “lookout” to flee the country.
Jacqueline was charged with complicity in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs.200 crore extortion case. According to the ED, the actress received gifts worth Rs. $7 million, including luxury items and financial benefits to her family, from crime proceeds. In a previous charge filed by the ED, they had alleged that the actress was also aware of Chandrashekhar’s nefarious activities and kept in touch with the scammer. On the other hand, after receiving the provisional bail, Jacqueline had claimed that she is one of his victims and not his accomplice.
In addition to her, Nora Fatehi is also being investigated in the case and has been named as one of the witnesses in the case.
