In Disney’s upcoming Haunted Mansion remake, Jamie Lee Curtis will star in a movie full of humor and “scary, spooky stuff.”
New details have been teased for The haunted house, a new take on the spooky story in the works at Disney starring Jamie Lee Curtis. From now on, Curtis can be seen on the big screen with her new movie Halloween ends now plays in theaters, but it can also be streamed on Peacock. She has no plans to make more Halloween movies at the moment, although she does not leave the horror, given her upcoming role in The haunted house.
In a new interview with Weekly entertainmentCurtis revealed some new details about the film, though she couldn’t reveal anything too specific. She teased that while it will have its scary moments, it also has a lot of humor. Curtis goes on to say that director Justin Simien has come up with “something delicious” with what fans have in store with The haunted house. As Curtis explains:
“I think they found the sweet spot of scary, funny and adventure. You know, it’s cooking. I barely cook, I attempt cooking all the time, and it’s all ingredients, and then the mix and the time, and it’s always hard to know, are you going to make something delicious? And from what I see and what I’ve heard, Justin has made something delicious. It’s modern, fresh, old-fashioned and scary, but not scary like a monster movie. It’s scary like a Disney ride, and funny. If you go on that ride, there’s a lot of humor as well as the scary, spooky stuff.”
Jamie Lee Curtis was able to share one detail about her character
At the risk of angering the House of Mouse, Curtis shared a fun fact about it: The haunted house. She teased that her character is wearing the most beautiful outfits she’s ever worn in a movie, and while that doesn’t tell us anything about the plot, it does suggest that we’ll be seeing Curtis in a different way than ever before.
“I’m giving something away – suddenly Disney comes in and grabs me by the throat and takes me out and beats me. I’ve never in my life worn such beautiful costumes as [the ones] made for me by Jeffrey Kurland [Haunted Mansion costume designer] in this movie – in my life. That’s my big secret!”
The haunted house will arrive in August 2023. Along with Curtis, The haunted house stars Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Jared Leto, Danny DeVito and Tiffany Haddish.
