Marlon Wayans is a Hollywood veteran and has starred in numerous comedies throughout his decades-long career. So it’s safe to say that the 50-year-old actor has seen success making a few people laugh, and Wayan’s says he doesn’t change his style for anyone. During an interview with Buzzfeedthe actor discussed a few of his films, including: Scary Movie and White girls. Some have seen the latter as problematic since its initial release in 2004, though Wayans isn’t too concerned about the stigma that films like his are “necessary.”
“I think they’re needed. I don’t know what planet we’re on, where you think people shouldn’t laugh, and people should be censored and canceled,” he explains. “If I have to be canceled by a joke, thank you for doing me that favour. It’s sad that society is in this place where we can’t laugh anymore. I’m not listening to this fucking generation.”
White girls was not exactly a critical success, good for five Razzies. However, the film is a cult classic for some, with endlessly quoted lines still used today. The project starred Marlon Wayans along with his brother Shawn, who followed two disgraced FBI agents who had to go undercover as the title characters.
“I don’t listen to these people: these scared people, these scared executives,” he says. “You all do what you want to do? Great. I’m still going to tell my jokes the way I tell them. And if you want to make some money, jump on board. And if not, I’ll find a way to do it myself .”
He continues: “I know my audience. My audience comes to my shows every weekend and they leave feeling good and laughing. One thing about the Wayans is that we’ve always told the worst joke in the best way.”

However, the actor tried something new with The Curse of Bridge Hollow, the latest collaboration between Wayans and Netflix. During his Buzzfeed interview, the actor talked about the difference between an R-rated comedy and PG.
Fortunately, Wayans says it was easy to keep his humor in a family-friendly setting. “As for potential challenges, no, this is easy. That raunchy stuff is hard. Oh man, that’s hard,” he explains. “This stuff. This is… I won’t say a walk in the park. I think all comedy is hard, but it’s not that desperate. It doesn’t require that much energy. So that’s what I like about it. “
The Curse of Bridge Hollow comes from director Jeff Wadlow, starring Priah Ferguson, Kelly Rowland, John Michael Higgins, Rob Riggle, Lauren Lapkus and Nia Vardalos starring alongside Wayans. The film is about a teenage girl (Ferguson) who accidentally releases an old ghost who brings Halloween decorations to life. The Curse of Bridge Hollowthat shouldn’t cause any drama regarding the cancellation culture is now available to stream on Netflix.
