Daniel Radcliffe wanted to separate from Harry Potter after his time as the franchise’s titular star. The actor played Potter for eight films spanning 10 years of Radcliffe’s fledgling career. Now, during an in-depth conversation with GQ, Radcliffe discussed his career and his mindset after his time in the Wizarding World. Like many stars who became known for one role, the actor wanted to broaden his market and test his skills in several projects that were a steep departure from the Harry Potter movies. Radcliffe quoted fellow Hollywood star Harrison Ford while his inspiration as Ford came to prominence for his role as Han Solo in the Star Wars franchisee. The actor says many fans thought he would step back and act afterward Harry Potterbut Radcliffe loved his job too much.
“I had the realization that people expected us to do nothing after that” Potter — that we would disappear,” he explains. “I really wished that wasn’t the case, because I knew I loved it, and I wanted to do what I had to do to have a long-lived career .”, fans of the Harry Potter series will always associate Radcliffe with the role, but the actor has done an amazing job on the various projects he has starred in since the franchise came to an end.

His first movie after his time at Hogwarts was The woman in black, a horror film that follows his character as he travels to a remote village with a vengeful ghost. Recently, the actor appeared as the antagonist in Now you see me 2 and The Lost City and portrayed ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic in Weird: The Story of Al Yankovic. Fans can see Radcliffe as the popular parody artist when the film streams on the Roku channel on November 4.
