The Beatle Admits He Would Change One Thing About The Competition, But Then ‘You Won’t Have The Show’

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer.”)

“The Masked Singer” said a quick hello and goodbye to the Beatle on Wednesday night, exposing the singer as famed TV host Jerry Springer. And really, that’s exactly how short his stint on the show was — he just wanted to have some fun. There Is He will change one thing about the show, but he knows it will ruin the fun.

And in fact, Springer only agreed to come under a mask because he wanted to have some fun — plus, he knew his grandson would love it.

“You know, I’m at a point in life when I’m not thinking about how it’s going to help my career, or something like that, you know? Those days are gone,” Springer told TheWrap. “So now I only do things that are fun or important. That falls into the fun category.”

Granted, he didn’t tell his grandson in advance. He only told his wife – who immediately questioned whether he ever really had powers? heard He sings – and keeps secrets from everyone else. According to the host, being on the show is really “like working for the CIA.” This was the biggest downside of the experience for him.

“That’s tough. But, if you agree to be on the show, these are the rules. So you follow them,” he said. “And that would be, ‘If I could change one thing,’ but you have to Wouldn’t need to show if I had my way with that change. Because the change will happen — you know, my family couldn’t see the whole evolution of the experience, the weeks before the show.”

He continued: “So they missed out on the ride they only got to see the last game. But you couldn’t – if you had taken my suggestion you wouldn’t have to show up. So I completely judged the decision they made.” Got it, but I’m just saying you might have had some fun if your family was laughing at you, trying to learn how to sing.”

But even with that struggle, Springer found the fun he was looking for. In fact, he’d call it “purely funny.” Springer also got a good laugh from some of people’s guesses (though he certainly thinks that whoever suggested his costume meant he was drinking one of the actual Beatles’ remaining surviving members).

Looking back at it, Springer joked that even though he wasn’t surprised that his identity was guessed correctly, he probably should have expected the ending. It was clearly written on the wall.

“I not only saw the other two acts — and they were phenomenal, they could really sing and all. I mean, they were phenomenal. So I knew that,” Springer said. “But the other reason is because they rehearsed me on the song that I sang, ‘The Way You Look Tonight.’ But they didn’t give me a single rehearsal on the other song. Not one! And I wasn’t even thinking about it at the time. And then on the way back home, I said, You know what? They knew I was going to make it. Wasn’t going. You know, suppose for some reason I was voted to remain for the next song. What was I supposed to sing?”

He continued, “And then the hotel called me early in the morning, they said you want an early checkout? How did they know I would need an early checkout?”

“The Masked Singer” airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Fox.
