Gina Prince-Bythewood will receive the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, an honor bestowed by the Motion Picture Editors Guild of America. The 53-year-old director, whose prolific filmography includes “Love & Baskeball” (2000), “Beyond the Lights” (2014), “The Old Guard” (2020), and the current critical and box office hit “The Woman King” , will receive the award at the 73rd Annual ACE Eddie Awards on March 5, 2023.
The organization will also honor two veteran film editors for their professional achievements: Don Zimmerman, Oscar nominee for “Coming Home,” whose credits include “Being There,” “The Prince of Tides” and “The Nutty Professor”; and Lynne Willingham, a two-time Emmy winner for “Breaking Bad,” whose work includes “The X-Files,” “Ray Donovan” and Showtime’s current “American Giglio.”

According to the organization, the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year award recognizes “an artist who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of motion pictures.” Prince-Bythewood will join a list of previous winners that includes Spike Lee, Christopher Nolan, Guillermo del Toro, Martin Scorsese and George Lucas, among others.
