I don’t know if Elon Musk is the god we wanna piss off

Bill Maher stands in defense of the acquisition of Elon Musk on Twitter on Friday, as he looks at the billionaire through another prism: as a means to an end to the climate crisis.

On Friday’s “Real Time With Bill Maher,” Musk was, of course, the subject of conversation at the roundtable, with both the “left” and the “right” having strong feelings of one side’s apprehensions (as already did) is) proven) an attack of racist and anti-Semitic hate speech on Twitter and another in the form of just plain free speech.

The host-comedian noticed the ongoing vitriol, but focused on the environment, to make a point about the benefits of having Musk in the picture.

“We saw in the paper this week that 26 of the 193 countries have signed up to do something about the environment,” Maher said. “The convenience we get from polluting things is – I’ve said this many times to the audience – if you could drop the TV remote tomorrow and it could cure global warming, would you do it?”

Maher thinks most Americans won’t. And that’s where Musk comes in.

“That’s all I would say about Elon Musk,” Maher began. “Do we really want to piss off geniuses? I mean, given that this week we learned once again that we’re not going to solve the environment ourselves. We’re not going to do it by the model that has About we thought we could do it, which everyone needs to conserve more and not just do what you want because it pollutes. It’s not working. That failed. Looks like we’ll have to provide technical feedback for this.”

He continued: “I don’t know if Elon Musk is the god we want to piss off. I’m like, I want to identify people who might have a shot at fixing this with technology.”

5 Ways Twitter Will Change Under New Boss Elon Musk

In January, Musk tweeted That he was “donating $100M to the prize for best carbon capture technology.” Later that month, he announced plans to launch a new initiative to capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and turn it into rocket fuel to help mitigate climate change.

“SpaceX is launching a program to take CO2 out of the atmosphere and convert it into rocket fuel. If interested please get involved,” Musk tweeted, adding that the initiative “will be important to Mars.”
