Liam Hemsworth In, Henry Cavill Out as Geralt in ‘The Witcher’ Season 4

“The Witcher” will return with a fourth season, Netflix announced on Saturday, with Liam Hemsworth taking the reins as Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventure, and alas, I will lay down my medal and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill said in a statement to TheWrap. “In my place, the illustrious Mr. Liam Hemsworth will command the White Wolf. Like the greatest literary characters, I pass the torch with respect for the time spent embodying Geralt and calling Liam this most charming and subtle of men. Excited to see the look. Liam, good sir, this character has such amazing depth to him, enjoy diving into it and see what you can find.”

Hemsworth said: “As a Witcher fan I am over the moon about Rivia’s opportunity to play Geralt. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I am honored that he is handing me the reins and giving me his Allowing you to take Blade of the White Wolf for the next chapter of the adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought in this beloved character. I might have some big shoes to fill , but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher.”

The show’s third season will premiere on streamers in the summer of 2023, while the four-part prequel series, “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” will launch on Christmas Day.

“The Witcher” quickly became a franchise-making hit for Netflix when the first season of the fantasy series debuted in December of 2019.

The Witcher is executive produced by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Heisrich. Additional executive producers include Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniels, Mike Ostrosky, Steve Gobb and Jaroslav Savko.
