Omri Katz didn’t return to the Hocus Pocus franchise for this year’s sequel, but would definitely be in a third film
Hocus pocus 2 has been a huge success for Disney in terms of viewership, even if audiences weren’t quite as complimentary about the sequel as the classic original. While the film boasted of the return of Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, along with Doug Jones back in the role of Billy Butcherson, there were some notable original cast members who didn’t make a comeback in the nostalgic follow-up. . Omri KatzThora Birch and Vinessa Shaw played the trio of kids who brought the Sandersons back to life in Hocus Pocusand in a recent interview with Weekly entertainmentKatz said a third Hocus Pocus movie could work even without the Sanderson sisters being involved.
Many fans of the Hocus Pocus franchise were saddened to learn that none of the original child actors would be reprising their roles in the sequel. While this was also true of Jason Marsden, who voiced Binx the cat in the 1993 film, it seems that all the stars at one time or another have shared an interest in returning to the franchise if another film comes along. As Katz explained, the movie doesn’t even have to include the witches for the franchise to continue. He said:
“Who’s to say there has to be continuity in terms of the story? You can make any story. If they took the book and turned it into a screenplay, it wouldn’t have to be the witches coming back, they could just do whatever they want, and people will be excited to see it anyway. The witches are 30 years older, so we’ll have to get this done sooner or later. We can’t wait another 30 years. Sorry, it’s the truth! I I’m sure Bette doesn’t want to do this at age 98.”
Will there be a Hocus Pocus 3?
Hocus pocus 2 came on Disney+ in late September and immediately broke the record for the most minutes watched a movie. Whether that will be enough for Disney to pursue another film is not yet known, but whether Hocus pocus 3 going to be in development Bette Midler has already made it clear that, despite Omri Katz’s reservations, she would be more than willing to return as Winifred Sanderson one more time. She previously said:
“I’m jealous of other actors who have franchises, and I was hoping for a sequel to First Wives Club, but we never got it. After 30 years without a Hocus Pocus sequel, I’ve always envied people who care about their favorite character. more than once. The fact that we have finally been able to do this, after 30 years of promoting the idea, I am glad we were able to do it. I would like to have a franchise, especially a character that I love to play If there was a third I would of course sign up but I don’t know how I can’t imagine what the story would be but I love Winifred Sarah Mary and our relationship It’s good for women We stay together through hell and flood, but we cause chaos, and not many women cause so much chaos!’
