Wakanda Forever Producer Addresses Reason For Some Post-Credit Scene

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever comes with only one scene after the credits because of what the movie is about and its tone.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theaters soon, and while the story is reportedly as tight and fitting as expected, something that’s perhaps a little less expected is that the film only involves a single scene after the credits. While the norm is for Marvel movies to have both a mid-credits scene and an extra stitch at the end of the credits, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will only close with its mid-credits scene. While discussing the film with the Phase Zero podcast, producer Nate Moore confirmed reports that there was only one extra scene and explained why it was appropriate for the film. He said:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“Not this time, you know, of course the way this movie is a little bit different and the tone of this movie is a little bit different and it especially felt, once people saw the movie, we felt that the ending was so was poetic, to then go back and say ‘Hey there’s a tag in the credits’ felt a little unfair from what we were doing Just like Endgame didn’t have a tag this didn’t feel like a movie that needed it .”

While fans have become accustomed to getting glimpses of Marvel’s future plans or one last throw-away moment of fun, it’s not hard to see why the movie doesn’t seem like the right place for that extra scene. Since the film has to do with the death of T’Challa, and in turn the real-life passing of Chadwick Boseman, the other tone is one that is sure to set the film apart from many of its peers.

How did Chadwick Boseman continue to inspire the Black Panther Legacy?

Although he is not physically present in Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverChadwick Boseman’s presence is palpable in the new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. No one said that more than director Ryan Coogler, who made it his goal to somehow continue Boseman’s stance in the sequel. He previously said:

“It’s complicated, it’s complicated, you know? What I’m saying is that Chadwick was all about — it was about moving things forward while being aware of what was happening behind him. That concept is one of the things I will always in terms of lessons from him And he was also so, so, so brilliant at understanding moments, understanding the moment he was in. So that’s why I tried to channel him, you know what “I mean, going through this process. Understanding that we have to keep moving forward, you know, even though we’ve lost him physically, you know what I mean?”

First reactions to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever seem to suggest that despite some mixed reviews in phase four of the MCU, the final film before the Multiverse Saga really gets going will close the year with a huge high and possibly Marvel’s first $1 billion movie since Spider-Man: No Way Home.
