Here’s how Shalin Bhanot helped sex workers

2021 was a sad year for many because of the different variant of the COVID-19 virus. There was news of the unsung heroes leading the way and helping everyone in the name of humanity. One of them was Bigg Boss 16 participant Shalin Bhanot who preferred to stay out of the spotlight because of the kind gesture he made. He became a voice of the women who are treated differently in this society. He stood for the sex workers who reside in the oldest red light district of Mumbai. The actor who is in the Bigg Boss 16 house is working with NGOs to provide assistance to sex workers who are struggling to pay their bills during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The actor had reportedly even risked his life and visited the streets of Kamathipura, Mumbai’s largest brothel house, which is reported to be home to 314 sex workers. He gave rations to more than 100 families and also gave them masks. He wanted to make government agencies aware that they need to lead the way and help these women. He had revealed in an interview with ETimes that women had to sell their bodies for Rs 50 to put food on the table and feed their children. They had no essential basic products such as mask or sanitizer kit. Some of them didn’t even have a sandal to wear.
