Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’s Shruti aka Shafaq Naaz gets candid on body-shaming; says, ‘I can’t imagine….’

Shafaq Naaz became popular with TV viewers as Shruti of Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin. The song Virat took care of her became quite a debated song among the viewers. In an interview with ETimes, she has said she is angry at the unrealistic beauty standards imposed on artists in the industry. Shafaq Naaz has said they are under constant pressure to maintain their bodies. She said actresses should be slim 24×7. Shafaq Naaz said it was understandable if a storyline required a certain body type. She said it affects the mental health of actors who are viewed so critically. Shafaq Naaz said she was once bluntly told during an audition that she was a bit overweight for a part. She says she’s shocked that even a few pounds matter when it comes to her job. Shafaq Naaz was quoted as saying “I can’t imagine what other girls who are chubby or overweight go through on a daily basis. Some time ago I had health problems that made me gain weight. That made me feel very aware of my own body for the first time. The actress says she believed that good performance is the most important thing, but lately she has been critical of her own body. Shafaq Naaz said she feels too self-conscious.
