Timothy Omundson and Jay Duplass Join Disney+ Series as Hades and Hephaestus

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series on Disney+ has added two new cast members, Variety reports. Jay Duplas is set to play Hadesthe god of the underworld. Timothy Omundson will play Hephaestusthe god of blacksmiths.


The show is an adaptation of Rick Riordan’s best-selling book series. In the story, Percy Jacksona young demigod, is accused by Zeus of stealing a thunderbolt, which awakens him to his divine powers. As part of his quest to restore order to Olympus, Percy (played by Walker Scobell) must embark on an adventure with his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries).

Hades is described as an underappreciated genius and an outcast from his family. He holds a grudge against those who wronged him in the past. Hephaestus, on the other hand, became disabled when he was thrown from Mount Olympus at a very young age. Despite all the conflicts in the world of the gods, he still retains the legendary strength and ability to love and forgive.

Jay Duplass is an actor who has appeared in TV shows such as Transparent on Amazon, Find party on TBS, and The Mindy Project on Hulu. In addition, he currently appears in HBOs Industry, which was recently renewed for a third season. Duplass is also known for writing and directing several film credits, including Cyrus, Jeff, who lives at homeand Baghead.

Timothy Omundson is best known for playing Carlton Lassiter on the popular USA Network series psych. His past work includes shows like Review Amy and Galavant. Omundson recently appeared on This is us, American housewifeand New Amsterdam.

Percy Jackson and the Olympianscast also includes Virginia Kull as Percy’s mother, Glynn Turman as the centaur Chiron, and Megan Mullally as Mrs. Dodds.

As part of the development of the pilot, Riordan and Steinberg are writing the script and James Bobin is directing it. The show is currently in production in Vancouver, but no release date has been announced.

With Riordan’s full support and involvement, we can expect the show to be portrayed as the author intended. Aside from Disney announcements and social media photos, Riordan’s website provides regular behind-the-scenes updates.
