Surely if you’ve been reading this, you’re aware of the shocking news on Sunday, when Disney abruptly fired CEO Bob Chapek as well as announced that former CEO Bob Iger would be returning to lead the company once again. Coming out of retirement. ,
If you want to read more about this confusing, and still very much developing, condition, you can check out TheWrap’s coverage here, here and here, The short version is, Chapek had a very tough two years at the helm of the Mouse House, something completely out of his control And some apparent self-propriety, and it appears Disney’s board thinks Iger is the person to right the ship.
“The big story today in Hollywood – involves our parent company, Disney,” Kimmel said when he touched on the topic during his monologue. “Our former boss is back! It’s a bit confusing. What happened was, basically, there was a guy named Bob Iger, our former CEO at Disney. Old Bob.
“Two years ago, Old Bob decided to retire, so they chose a new Bob to replace him. Bob Chapek. But last night, out of nowhere, the board of directors fired New Bob and asked Old Bob to come back. Which means New Bob is now Old Bob and Old Bob is the new New Bob,” Kimmel continued.
