Nicole Kidman will receive the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023

Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman will be the 49th recipient of the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, and the first woman from Australia to receive this particular honour. Recent recipients of this distinction include Julie Andrews, George Clooney and Denzel Washington, the latter of whom presented Kidman with his Best Actress Oscar for the 2002 film “The Hours,” in which she memorably portrayed to troubled author Virginia Woolf.

A five-time Oscar nominee, including last year for her role as Lucille Ball in Aaron Sorkin’s “Being the Ricardos,” Kidman is known for working with the industry’s top directors throughout her dignified career. including Stanley Kubrick, Sydney Pollack, Gus Van Sant, Jane Campion, Sofia Coppola, Nora Ephron, Baz Luhrmann, and Lars Von Trier.

“Nicole Kidman has captivated audiences for decades with the boldness of her art and the glamor of a screen icon,” said Kathleen Kennedy, President of the AFI Board of Directors. “She is a force both fearless in her choices and bold in every performance. AFI is honored to present to you the 49the AFI Life Achievement Award”.

The award will be presented to Kidman at a Tribute Gala at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 10, 2023.
