As the “Bachelor in Paradise” couples evaluate the strength of their relationships as their time on the beach winds down, Genevieve and Aaron’s romance falls through the cracks in an unexpected breakup that leaves Genevieve “very shocked” .
“Paradise really created a very cohesive environment for people to come together,” Aaron told TheWrap, adding that the cast didn’t have to worry about practical elements like cooking, bills, or childcare. . “You have to be able to make something work, and since we couldn’t communicate there — I’m going to take that as much as I possibly could because I was very much at fault — I thought we weren’t right for each other.”
The couple has been through their fair share of miscommunications this season — like their memorable fight about the definition of “pain” and “itch” — pushing the pair to their breaking point, with Genevieve walking off the beach before Aaron. Persuaded her to pack her things in preparation to move out.
Though Aaron raised these concerns to Genevieve in a conversation on Monday’s episode — which was much longer than Aaron’s note seemed to show — Genevieve admitted that she was “appalled” by the breakup and went through a lot with her family. “I didn’t know what to say in that moment because I was so taken aback,” Genevieve told TheWrap. “The night before the rose ceremony he said he saw potential, was hard to deal with and was in love with me, so I wasn’t expecting it and didn’t know how to react.”
After their first conversation, Genevieve discusses the situation with her friends and eventually decides to confront Aaron again.
“I was like, ‘Why did I let this happen?’ He continued. “I went back downstairs and just wanted to tell her I was trying to leave because of how you were treating me and… it wasn’t a good conversation but I’m glad I went back and said that .
Despite their differences, the pair agreed on Tuesday’s finale that they were better off as friends, and Genevieve hopes it stays that way.
“I think he’s a good person,” she said. “He has a good heart [and] I hope the best for him… I would just love to be friends and [be able to] Casually hang out with everyone.
