After Shailesh Lodha, Raj Anadkat, who played the role of Tapu in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for the past five years, has decided to leave the show. In his farewell letter, Raj thanked the fans for their support and assured them that he will be back soon to entertain everyone.
In recent months, there have been rumors that Raj had left the show because he wasn’t happy with how his role turned out. It was said that he decided to leave the show for more space for him as an actor. The actor has now officially confirmed his departure from the popular sitcom.
In his lengthy post on Instagram, Raj thanked the entire team at TMKOC, my friends, family and all his fans for making his journey amazing and educational. He described his stint on the show as one of the best years of his acting career.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey – the entire team at TMKOC, my friends, family and of course all of you (red heart emoji). Everyone who welcomed me to the show and loved me as ‘TAPU’ You love for my craft has always driven me to give the best to all of you every time,” Raj said in a statement.
Earlier this year, there were also reports that Munmun Dutta, who plays the role of Babita Ji in the popular sitcom, was reportedly leaving the show for the second season of Bigg Boss OTT. However, there was no official confirmation of these rumors.
Last year, Raj was in the news for his rumored relationship with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah co-star Munmun Dutta. Both actors had hushed up the rumors and criticized media reports for making up stories about their romantic affair. Raj had asked trolls to think about the consequences such rumors could have on his life.
