Miss Universe 2023 to air English-language telecast exclusively on Roku Channel

The Miss Universe Organization announced Tuesday that Roku Channel will be the exclusive English-language broadcast partner for the 71st Miss Universe pageant.

The live event will take place on Saturday, January 14, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“For the first time ever, more Americans are watching streaming TV than cable. With this profound change in the way viewers watch content, we are thrilled to partner with Roku Channel
to bring the Miss Universe pageant into the world of streaming and reach previously untapped audiences across the United States,” said Amy Emmerich, CEO of the Miss Universe Organization.

“The Roku Channel also ranked first in reach among AVOD/FAST services in the US and Canada according to TiVo’s most recent quarterly Video Trends report, and we look forward to finding more innovative, new ways to tell these stories together Excited to partner. Incredible women,” Emmerich said.

Around 90 women from around the world will compete for the coveted title of Miss Universe at the international event to be held at New Orleans’ Ernest N Morial Convention Center. The pageant, which will feature categories including interview, evening gown, swimwear and community impact, will culminate with the crowning of the successor to the 70th Miss Universe, Harnaaz Sandhu.

The televised event will also stream in Spanish on Telemundo.

A Thai company owned by transgender activist Chakrapong “Anne” Chakrajutatib bought the Miss Universe Organization from Endeavor’s IMG division in 2021 for $20 million. She is the first woman to own the pageant, which IMG acquired from Donald Trump in 2015.
