Taapsee Pannu was recently seen on the big screen in Shabaash Mithu. While the film is still in theaters, the actress is already preparing for her next venture. Interestingly, Taapsee has been cast opposite none other than Shah Rukh Khan in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunkic. Recently Taapsee spoke in an interview with Pinkvilla about what she thought of stardom, success and failure at the box office. As if that wasn’t enough, Taapsee also spoke about Shah Rukh Khan, and how every success and loss is personal to the megastar.
Taapsee Pannu claims Shah Rukh Khan is the benchmark for any newcomer
Speaking of Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee claimed that SRK is literally the benchmark for any newcomer from Delhi. The actor’s success and fame are standards that newcomers strive for. Revealing further, Taapsee added: “I have told him (Shah Rukh Khan) that he is the benchmark or the person every outsider, especially from Delhi, looks up to. I’m not a superstar, but he’s the superstar. I don’t really feel that when you work with people like him or superstars like him, you realize that’s the gist of the word stardom or star. That’s when paanch saal se koi foto nahi aayi hai (he hasn’t had a release in the past five years) but one move of him is causing a storm everywhere. His wins are personal, his losses are personal, that’s stardom. Not what we think the star is.”
Later, Taapsee spoke of success and failure and revealed that her relatives call her a bad loser and an even worse winner. However, the actress claims that she has managed to evolve in her professional life and does not take success or failure too seriously. She describes this evolution, adding, “A lot of other things come with success, especially in this country. It teaches you not to take your successes or failures too seriously. I’ve learned that. I haven’t been a good loser. I still… my relatives still call me ‘she’s a really bad loser when I play board games’ I’m a bad loser and probably an even worse winner really But at work I’ve gotten a little better, like I “Don’t take success or failure too much now. It’s not like it doesn’t affect me, it still affects me and it bothers me a bit, but I’ve gotten better at dealing with it.”
Back on the work front, post Shabaash Mithuss which is based on the life of Indian cricketer Mithali Raj, Taapsee also has Anurag Kashyap’s thriller, Thu Baarafollowed by Dunkic.
