‘1899’ canceled by Netflix after one season

German Netflix series “1899” has been canceled after one season, series-co-creator Baran bo Odar confirmed on Instagram on Monday in a message co-signed by co-producer Jantze Friese.

“With a heavy heart we must inform you that ‘1899’ will not be renewed,” written by odar, “We would love to end this incredible journey with a second and third season just as we did with ‘Dark’.” But sometimes things don’t go the way you planned. this is life.”

“We know this will disappoint the millions of fans out there. But we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that you were a part of this amazing adventure,” he added, adding, “We love you. Never forget “

“Dark,” which debuted on Netflix in 2017, was the platform’s first German series, driving demand for more German series, according to Christopher Hamilton, a senior insights analyst at Parrot Analytics. While “1899” opened well when it launched on November 17: it registered an impressive 31 times the average series demand globally in November.

The demand for the premiere was far ahead of the premieres of the first and second seasons of “Dark” and the premieres of other German series such as “Barbarians”.

“1899” was aboard the steamship Kerberos, bound for New York. When it receives a distress signal from the missing ship Prometheus, the decision to go overboard to search for survivors has dire consequences.

It starred Emily Beecham, Andreas Pietschmann and Aneurin Barnard.
