Sony Pictures has released a preview for the Gran Turismo movie.
A sneak peek teaser for it Gran Turismo it came out. Inspired by the true story of an inspiring driver who turns pro after winning a series of Nissan competitions, the film’s cast includes Stranger things star David Harbor alongside Orlando Bloom, Archie Madekwe, Darren Barnet, Geri Halliwell Horner and Djimon Hounsou. It’s coming to theaters this summer, and you can get a sneak peek now by watching the video below, courtesy of Sony images.
Madekwe plays Jann Mardenborough, the teenager at the center of the Gran Turismo the story of the movie. The actor also speaks of his excitement for fans to see the film on the big screen, with the film blending drama, romance and action into one thrilling racing story.
“We are so excited to tell you about our new movie Gran Turismohe says. “With pulse-pounding action and drama… we’re excited to share Gran Turismo with you exclusively in theaters.”
“This movie is made for the cinema,” Bloom also says in the video above.
“And it’s gritty race car action that makes you feel like you’re right in the thick of it,” adds Harbor.
Neill Blomkamp directs the film from a screenplay by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. Hall also executive produces with Kazunori Yamauchi, Herman Hulst and Matthew Hirsch, while producers include Doug Belgrad, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan and Dana Brunetti.
Gran Turismo is the latest video game adaptation
Given the popularity of the video games, attempts have been made for years to get an adaptation of it Gran Turismo Off the ground. It finally came to fruition with Blomkamp, and Harbor teased that the outcome they have in store is something fans will truly appreciate.
“Neill is so cool and such a good director that it’s been a real pleasure working on this movie, and this movie is going to be… Speaking of not what you expect, with him at the helm there’s something deeply rooted in this movie, to this video game world which is so cool. I can’t wait for you to see this movie,” the actor told Collider.
It may have been the success of video game adaptations over the years that ultimately led to this movie being made. The Sonic the Hedgehog movies are prime examples of video game adaptations that have killed at the box office. Of Gran Turismo, you throw Blomkamp at the helm, along with some racing action that makes viewers feel like they’re on the track. Chances are that this film will also be a big hit at the box office.
Gran Turismo will soon make its way to cinemas on August 11, 2023.
