Scott Lang’s daughter, Cassie grew up during the Blip and is ready to follow her father into the world of superheroes. Played this time by MCU newcomer Kathryn Newton, Quantumania director Peyton Reed recently explained how Cassie is about to play a major role in Scott Lang’s storyline.

“When Paul and I started the first film, the question was, will audiences accept Paul Rudd as a superhero? Will people accept Ant-Man, a man who shrinks down and controls ants, as a character? And they did. And that’s really gratifying, and I think audiences really relate to Scott Lang because he doesn’t have super powers, he’s not a super scientist, he’s not a billionaire, he’s just an ordinary person who just happens to get caught up in these adventures.

But I think we’ve all grown and what we want to do with the movies and how we envision the character, the family dynamic, after the events of [Avengers: Infinity War] and Endgame, it clearly occurred to us, ‘Well, Cassie turns 18 in this movie, that’s great.’ The whole theme is time and how much time he’s missed, and his main motivation is simply, “I want time with my daughter.” And now he comes into contact with a villain in this movie, Kang the Conqueror, who has dominion over time, and what does that mean for them?”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released on February 17, 2023.
