“Morning Joe” host Mika Brzezinski criticized the correct response to Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents, saying Republicans “aren’t smart enough” to see the difference between his case and Trump’s.

Brzezinski criticized Republicans’ quick calls for action against the current president, in contrast to their approach to last year’s investigation of Trump.
“So many Republicans who were critical of the Justice Department investigating Donald Trump took it too seriously or said it wasn’t fair,” she began Friday’s segment. “They take very different tones when it comes to investigating Biden.”
He then played a clip from August 2022 in which Sen. Lindsey Graham remarked that “this is a double standard when it comes to Trump.” In a recent interview, he advocated for a special counsel to investigate Biden, saying that “we need to fully understand what happened in both cases – President Trump and Biden – to be sure That our system works in a way to protect our national security interests.”

The “Morning Joe” host said she was not concerned that this balancing of the two cases “undermines the importance of the Trump documents scandal.”
“Classified documents in private hands is something Republicans consistently downplay until the shoe is put on the other foot,” she continued. “Unfortunately, the shoe that Trump dropped was much larger and entirely different in the key issue of willful intent to obstruct. That’s what’s going to come down. Many Republicans just aren’t smart enough to figure it out.
In fact, she argued, the Biden case makes it “more likely” that the DOJ will move on Trump.
When it came to Biden, he said, his administration immediately handed over classified material and contacted the National Archives — while “Trump stayed put even in the face of a subpoena.”
