The Republican Party spent too much time this weekend debating, of all things, gas stove use in the home — and the hosts of “Morning Joe” think it was a complete waste of time.
“It makes Trump Republicans even more stupid,” Joe Scarborough said on the matter on Monday’s morning segment.
The hubbub began when, per NBC, Consumer Product Safety Commission, “raised the prospect of new safety measures related to gas stoves, pointing to research on public safety, indoor pollution and childhood asthma.” However, it is important to point out that no one should be forced to replace their existing stove.
But that hasn’t stopped GOP officials like Kevin McCarthy from rallying around the issue as if it had real political ramifications.
The House speaker said, “While President Biden wants to control the kind of stoves on which Americans can cook, House Republicans are definitely cooking with gas.” Tweeted on Friday.
Scarborough responded directly to McCarthy’s tweet, writing myself On the same day, “It seems as though Democratic operatives have infiltrated the Republican Party over the past 6 years and continue to drive them over the cliff.”
The conversation continued on Monday when he and co-host Mika Brzezinski mocked the party for getting “half the kernel” of an issue and treating it as if the future depended on it.
“It’s sheer stupidity,” Scarborough said Monday. “And if it were just bloggers, that would be one thing, but when you have Kevin McCarthy going out and other people talking about gas stoves, I mean, I just assume that whoever Is voting on this issue and telling Republicans to pay attention to it, they just need to stop. This makes Trump Republicans even more stupid.
He continued: “They keep getting dumber and dumber and dumber. Politically, if you look at the things they’re giving press conferences about, it’s amazing. It’s just mind-blowing. All this gesture And they have a chance to push issues and talk about issues, they just don’t want to do that. So now they are talking about gas stoves.”
