Plot, cast, release date and everything else we know

Next month, Emilie Dumay and Aurelien Leturgie’s new series, Gunther’s millions, premieres on Netflix. The docuseries is about a German Shepherd named Gunther, who supposedly inherited $400 million from a mysterious countess. The story gets a bit more complicated than that with a colorful spread put up by the project that exposes the real story behind this adorable description.

With the upcoming series of four one-hour episodes, Gunther’s millions will join the ranks of Tiger king, The Tinder scammer, The genesis of a killer, and many other well-known investigative documentary miniseries produced by Netflix. However, the dog-get-rich scenario makes it seem like a much lighter and more humorous offering than usual for the popular streaming service.

Here’s everything we know Gunther’s millions.

Gunther’s Millions: The Plot

The trailer in front Gunther’s millions features a voiceover of an unknown woman saying, “What would you think if I told you a story about a very wealthy Countess?” When she died, she gave everything to her dog Gunther. You’re talking about a dog worth $400 million. It’s a true story, I work for the dog.” But while Gunther enjoys the high life with the loot from private jets, lavish caviar dinners, pampering by servants and living in a Miami mansion formerly owned by Madonna, something sinister seemed to be lurking behind the luxury.

As Netflix says in the press release for the miniseries, “Over the past three decades, the dog’s wealth has been built into a vast empire spanning two continents, including luxurious mansions, a glamorous entourage, and even a pop music group. any good pup can tell you it’s always worth digging a little deeper.

One figure who stands out in Gunther’s life is Italian entrepreneur and pharmaceutical heir Maurizio Mian, who seems to be at the heart of the dog’s profits hoax, the cultish atmosphere that surrounds the dog’s filthy rich lifestyle, and a covert science operation. that could possibly be cloning the dog to keep the outrageous ruse afloat. Besides Mian, the most prominent name in the miniseries should be German Countess Karlotta Leibenstein, who, as the story goes, passed away in 1992, leaving her $80 million fortune to her dog, Gunther. Investments over the years by Mian are believed to be how it just became worth about $400 million, but the investigative docuseries seem to be able to debunk these statements. Then the succession of dogs over the decades makes the water murkier.

According to the one minute 30 second trailer, Gunther IV inherited his fortune from his grandfather, Gunther III, who also inherited it from a Countess Leibenstein. Reportedly, Leibenstein had no close relatives or children of her own, which is why she included her German Shepherd in her will.

In a docuseries sit-down interview, the mysterious Mian says the dogs are backed by the multi-million dollar trust Liebenstein left behind, but there is no evidence pointing to a real Karlotta Liebenstein living in history. In 1995, Mian also told an Italian newspaper that he invented the Countess’s identity “to make known the philosophy of his foundation”.

Gunther’s millions seems to intrigue and excite viewers with its reveal of an empire centered around the probably oblivious German Shepherd with its collapse of the luscious wealth gone mad with shady real estate deals, shocking social experiments and one of the largest tax fraud schemes in American history.
