Adult Swim Cuts Ties Up With Rick and Morty Co-Creator Justin Roiland

Adult Swim has severed ties with Emmy-winning “Rick and Morty” co-creator Justin Roiland, nearly two weeks after he was charged with felony domestic violence related to an incident first revealed in a January 2020 criminal complaint. The allegation was made.

The network confirmed to TheWrap that it has “ended its association” with the creative. However, “Rick and Morty” will continue, the show’s official Twitter account announced,

“Talented and dedicated crew working hard on Season 7,” the tweet read. Roiland, who created the series with “Community” Dan Harmon, voiced the two title characters.

Roiland is facing DV charges in Orange County, California in connection with a criminal complaint filed by an anonymous Jane Doe, an intimate partner at the time, regarding an alleged encounter on or around January 19, 2020. The writer-executive producer pleaded not guilty later that year to charges, including one felony count of domestic battery with bodily injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by intimidation, violence, fraud and/or deceit.

While Roiland appeared in court for a pre-trial hearing on 12 January, the latest appearance date extended to 27 April.

After that he was produced in October. A court-ordered protective order was filed that month and Roiland was instructed not to harass, threaten, or monitor Jane Doe and that he was not allowed to be within 100 feet of Jane Doe. nor is he permitted to own or carry a firearm. This order is till October 2023.

Season 7 of the long-running adult-animated comedy will mark its 10th year on the air. In an interview with TheWrap, conducted before the allegations broke, Roiland said that “Rick and Morty” was designed to last for years. The Emmy-winning, half-hour show follows a sociopathic genius scientist who takes his naturally timid grandson on wildly dangerous adventures across the universe.

“Rick and Morty” stars Sarah Chalke (“Scrubs”), Chris Parnell (“Saturday Night Live”) and Spencer Grammer (“Greek”). Harmon now serves as sole executive producer.
