Fans are quick to speculate about Amanda Waller’s return after James Gunn posted an intriguing Instagram story.
James Gunn recently posted an Instagram story seemingly confirming Amanda Waller’s return to the new DCU. The director posted a photo of his cat in front of his computer with the caption “Writing Partner” and the investigative skills of fans made it clear that Waller’s name is on the director’s desktop. However, it has not been confirmed whether James Gunn intentionally posted the photo to give the fans a hint.
The last time Amanda Waller was seen in DC was during the movie Black Adam. Viola Davis plays Amanda Waller, a major supporting character in the movie franchise. She was first seen in the former DCEU via Suicide Squad followed in 2016 by The suicide squad in 2021, then two episodes of Peacekeeper, and finally, Black Adam in 2022. So it makes perfect sense that Waller is part of the new DCU, since it was already established that she is the common thread between the two worlds.
James Gunn’s DCU has a lot of big changes
Right now, one of the major changes to James Gunn’s DCU is that Henry Cavill will no longer be part of the franchise. That was already confirmed Superman would be part of the next DCU movie and Henry Cavill won’t be reprising his Justice League character. Gunn confirmed last month that Henry Cavill would no longer be a part of the future DCU, as the story they’ve been working on will focus on the earlier stage of Superman’s life.
James Gunn previously tweeted, “Peter and I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be happier about; we’ll be at the start of the new year. Among those on the list is Superman. In the early stages our story will focus on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character won’t be played by Henry Cavill.” He further revealed, “But we just had a great meeting with Henry, and we’re big fans, and we talked about some exciting opportunities to work together in the future.”
The director is actively answering fans’ questions about the new DCU. First, he revealed that the DCU would dive into the world of video games. Gunn and Safran take charge of the interconnected DC universe in film, TV, animation projects and now video games. Gunn also revealed that Wonder Woman 3 can not anymore; However, Gal Gadot may remain as Wonder Woman.
