The winners of this year’s NAACP Image Awards – which celebrate the achievements of people of color in television, music, literature and film – have been announced every day this week, culminating with the live broadcast airing Saturday night on BET.
Ahead of this year’s ceremony, ABC Abbott Elementary School was the most nominated television series, with nine nominations (including for Best Comedy); ABC blackish followed in the comedy race with seven nominations. On the drama side, Starz’s P-Valley and clean sugar queen each garnered six nominations in total. Among the limited series, Peacock’s The Best Man: The Last Chapters fared best with seven nods, followed by Netflix from zero and AppleTV+ The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray (with six nods per piece).
At the end, Abbott Elementary School, P-Valley And The Best Man: The Last Chapters were the big winners in their respective comedy, drama and limited series categories.
Plus, Angela Bassett not only won honors for Best TV Drama Actress (for Fox’s 9-1-1), but she also won Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Wakanda Forever) and was named Entertainer of the Year.
