Dilbert made an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this week after the comic strip was pulled from several newspapers across the country thanks to a racist rant from its creator Scott Adams. And, according to Dilbert, Adams’ racism was “a total shock” to the “all-white writing staff”.
In case you missed it, on Wednesday, Adams shared a video boasting about a recent Rasmussen poll that determined only a narrow majority of black Americans agree with the phrase, “It It’s okay to be white.” Adams argued that “if about half of all blacks are not okay with white people … that’s a hateful group.”
“And I would say, based on the way things are going, the best advice I would give white people is to get the hell away from black people… because this is not fixing,” he specifically said. Said moved to an area where predominantly white people lived before he noticed.
In the days that followed, the Dilbert comic strip was pulled by several outlets, including USA Today, the LA Times, the Washington Post and others. And, according to Dilbert himself, he went blind.
Dilbert told Colin Jost during Weekend Update, “I think I can speak for myself and the entire all-white staff at the Dilbert offices when I say it was a complete shock.” “I mean, most cartoonists are weird, but racists are weird.? Guess I didn’t notice. He memorandum.
Dilbert admits he knew Scott Adams “was bad”, noting that he let Dilbert into the office every single day during COVID knowing he was autoimmune.
“Maybe I was blind to it,” Dilbert lamented. “I mean, my glasses are literally opaque white. But, to me, he was just Scott, the funny guy. The pro-Trump cartoonist who did magic in his spare time and did an impression of Kevin Hart!”
Now, having learned Adams’ true beliefs, Dilbert looks inward, wondering what made him what he is, seeing that he is one of Adams’ creations – and he has an epiphany.
“I woke up this morning ready to hit the streets and paint the city with a white man’s blood!” she announced.
