The In Memoriam tribute on Sunday’s telecast of the 95th Academy Awards was far from complete.
The montage was preceded by an introduction by a moving John Travolta, before opening with the first memory of the evening: his late Fat co-starring Olivia Newton-John. But by the end of the segment, which was accompanied by a touching performance of Lenny Kravitz’s “Calling All Angels,” many viewers were distracted by the obvious omissions from the collection of stars and filmmakers who had passed over the course of the last year.
The Academy did direct viewers to a link at the end of In Memoriam to a fuller list of Hollywood luminaries who are “dead but certainly not forgotten”. And yes, complaining the morning after the Oscars airs about who wasn’t included in In Memoriam is kind of an age-old tradition. But it’s still unclear how the following snubs were excluded from the on-air tribute, given their popularity, influence, or, in one case, their direct connection to one of the nominated films of This year.
Review our list of the five biggest In Memoriam snubs from the awards show, then hit the comments to share who you want to be included in the montage.
