Malia Obama Wrote Donald Glover’s New Thriller ‘Swarm’ for Amazon

Malia Obama just made her TV writing debut on Donald Glover’s new Amazon Prime Video thriller “Swarm.”

The eight-episode thriller inspired by Beyonce and the Beyhive hit Prime Video screens on Friday. It tells the story of a violently obsessed fan who will stop at nothing to see his favorite Bey as R&B star Ni’Jah in concert. “Swarm” was a co-composition of Janine Nabors and Donald Glover.

Joining as one of the staff writers for the series was Obama, who is credited as Malia Ann. This is Obama’s TV writing debut, although he has writing credits for the web series “West Wing Week” and the documentary “By the People: The Election of Barack Obama”.

Obama worked with Nabors to write the episode “Girl, Bye”. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Nabors complimented Obama on his writing abilities and understanding of the craft.

“Some of her pitches were wild as hell, and they were so cool and so funny,” Nabors told the outlet. “She’s an incredible writer. She brought so much to the table. She’s really, really dedicated to her craft.

He added that the episode has the potential to be one of the “wildest episodes” of the series.

r” I think this is going to surprise a lot of people. It’s very dope. I’m really proud of this,” Nabors said. “I’m really excited for everyone to know [Obama’s] work, and the work of [other] Writer on the show.

The series, which is currently streaming, stars Dominique Fishback, Chloe Bailey, Damson Idris, Billie Eilish, Rory Culkin, Leone, Paris Jackson and more.
