The Umbrella Academy is one of Netflix’s most popular series and is based on the comic of the same name, published by Dark Horse Comics. The comic was written by My Chemical Romance lead singer Gerard Way and drawn by Gabriel Bá, both of whom serve as executive producers on the series. The story goes that 43 babies were born on the first day of October 1989, even though the mothers were not pregnant when the day began. Sir Reginal Hargreeves adopted seven, enabling 36 to grow up on their own. Those seven were raised as superheroes and all lived in a house called The Umbrella Academy.

Mary J. Blige stars as Florence Jackson Mudbound, a historical drama set in the Mississippi Delta during World War II, based on Hillary Jordan’s novel of the same name.
