Al Franken calls Hush Money ‘another failed Trump business venture’

With former President Donald Trump facing possible impeachment for alleged hush money paid to Stormy Daniels after he was twice impeached, “The Daily Show” guest host Al Franken joked Monday night that in fact , The whole situation is just “another failed Trump business venture”.

In case you somehow missed it, here’s the short version: In 2016, Stormy Daniels received $130,000 from Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer and fixer. Cohen has testified in court that the adult film star was paid at Trump’s direction to cover up her affair with Trump. Cohen says Trump reimbursed him while in office.

Now, a Manhattan DA could charge Trump for a campaign finance violation and, if convicted, Trump would actually face prison time. (Trump posted on Saturday that he would be arrested on Tuesday, but there was no clear support for many of his claims about those claims, such as the 2020 election and other things).

“I have to say, who would have ever thought that Donald Trump would be brought down by a porn star? All of us, right?” Franken joked. “It was quite predictable.”

Franken also pointed out that the timeline of events in this situation, as well as the fact that Trump had made “investments” that did not work out for him, resembled the set-ups of other Trump failures over the years.

“Yeah, Donald Trump paid Stormy Daniels to keep this story quiet. And here we are still talking about it seven years later,” joked Franken. “So, this will be another failed Trump business venture.”
