Quirin Schmidt from Sky Germany leaves Gaumont – Deadline

Long-time Sky Germany manager Quirin Schmidt will move to Gaumont as Executive Producer in April.

Schmidt helped set up Sky’s own production department in Germany, where he oversaw three seasons of the German-Austrian crime series The passportdramedy Me and the others and mystery series house.

He has an existing relationship with the president of Gaumont in Germany, the producer Sabine de Mardt and the producer Andreas Bareiss through the comedy series Sky Original The wasp (The wasp).

In his new function at Gaumont, Schmidt is responsible for the development and production of films and series.

“Quirin is a great addition to our company,” said de Mardt. “Last but not least, our cooperation at The wasp showed us that he is exactly the right Executive Producer for our team.

“We are convinced that Quirin, with his creativity, his flair for extraordinary stories and his broad network in the industry, will make a significant contribution to realizing our ambitious goals and setting new milestones together.”

Schmidt said: “Especially at a time when our industry is facing new tasks and challenges, I could not wish for a more exciting environment to collaborate with colleagues to tell stories that are meaningful and challenge and positively entertain our audience.”

Elke Walthelm, Executive President Content at Sky Deutschland, said: “At Sky Deutschland we are proud of the success and impact Quirin Schmidt has had on our in-house productions as Executive Producer. We are sure that he will realize impressive projects in his new position at Gaumont. We wish him all the best from the bottom of our hearts and look forward to following his future productions.”
