The Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt stars shamshera got off to a slow start at the checkout. Early estimates say the film is in the range of €9.50 to 11 crores on day 1. The report below has questioned the future of the film as it is likely to end under YRF’s latest film, Samrat Prithviraj with Akshay Kumar which was a huge disappointment.

The start was slow across the board, despite the makers’ choice of a low ticket price, which meant that audiences were never interested in seeing the film. The momentum was not with shamshera and the not so good chatter along with negative reviews has further dented the outlook. The film was expected to benefit from the walk-in audience, but even that didn’t materialize. The best performing circuit was Mumbai, followed by some sacks in Gujarat and Rajasthan, but that’s not saying much as the overall performance is even below the conservative forecasts of Rs. 12 to 13 million dollars.

shamsheraThe opening of the film has shocked the Hindi film industry as a film by this star cast, made on this scale, warranted a much better start. shamshera is a front-loaded movie, and with a bad opening it’s hard to last for days to come. With not so encouraging news, we don’t even rule out a decline on Sunday. shamshera will be heading for an opening weekend of Rs. 30 to 35 crores, which is below par.

The film was expected to surpass Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 on opening day, but the horror comedy is still the biggest opener of the year, and it remains to be seen which of the upcoming releases can top it to become the biggest Hindi opener of 2022.
