2023 Daytime Emmy Nominations: Full List

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is beginning to reveal the nominees for its 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, beginning with several categories announced Tuesday night via the entertainment shows “Extra,” “Access Hollywood” and “Entertainment Tonight.” Via the categories announced so far, CBS’s “The Young and the Restless” – also in the midst of celebrating its 50th anniversary – took an early lead in nominations, with six in total (including drama series) . This year’s other nominations will be announced Wednesday morning.

This year’s main TV Daytime Emmys will air live June 16 on CBS and Paramount+. It’s part of a new two-year broadcast deal the academy has with CBS. (The Daytime Emmys Lifestyle & Creative Arts ceremony will take place the following day, June 17.)

Last year, “General Hospital” was the big winner with five awards – including a daytime drama – as the broadcast returned to a live, in-person event. The Daytime Emmys continue to evolve, following the most recent agreement between the two major television academies in which several categories were realigned to focus on genre, rather than daytime installments, to spread the eligibility between Primetime (administered by the TV Academy) and Daytime Emmys (administered by New York-based NATAS).

This means that game shows have now migrated to the Primetime Emmys; Meanwhile, the Children and Family programming categories have already been removed from both shows and moved to a new Children and Family Emmy Award competition and ceremony, which premiered last December. Additionally, educational/practical programming is now considered strictly the purview of the Daytime Emmys, regardless of the part of the day. Among other changes this year, the news and entertainment talk show categories merged into “daytime talk show series”, while the news and entertainment talk show home fields are now “series host daytime talk show”.
