Nope Star Brandon Perea joins the cast of Twisters

The cast of Twisters grows with the addition of Brandon Perea to the cast. Variety reports that the actor, who appeared in Jordan Peele’s sci-fi thriller No signed on last year for a role in the Twister follow-up. Details have not been revealed about the role Perea will play, but he will join previously announced cast members Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the crawfish sing), Glen Powell (Top gun: Maverick), and Anthony Ramos (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts). Lee Isaac Tjoeng (Minari) directs the feature film from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant).

In addition to his role in NoPerea can also be recognized by his role in the Netflix series The OA. He also appeared in the superhero series Doom patrol. His other film credits include roles in Dance camp And American insurrection. The actor had also caused some stir by throwing his name into the hat to be considered for a role in the arrival of Marvel Studios Fantastic four movie, though he’ll certainly be just one of many actors aiming for that project.

Twisters has been described as the next “chapter” in the Twister universe. When the project was still in the early stages of development, it was rumored to be a legacy sequel, possibly with Helen Hunt reprising her role from Twister for the film, but there’s no indication at this point that Hunt will be involved in any capacity. The current rumor mill message is that the film will not contain direct links to the first film in terms of returning characters, but references to the storm of Twister may still be used.

The original Twister, released in 1996, was directed by Jan de Bont and written by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin. Hung co-starred with Bill Paxton as a pair of married storm chasers who, along with their team, get caught in a severe tornado storm outbreak in Oklahoma. Other cast members from the movie included the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, as well as Jami Gertz, Cary Elwes, Alan Ruck, Todd Field, Jeremy Davies, and Sean Whalen.

“I’m so thankful to have been a part of this original movie,” Whalen said in a post on Instagram last year when many asked if he’d be a part of Twisters. “It’s helped me travel to places I never would have been and meet hundreds of people I never would have met.”

He added: “Having said that there’s no need to keep asking if I’m involved in the sequel. I wouldn’t know for months and if I was involved they probably wouldn’t let me tell you anyway. I assume they will.” maybe pick some original people and I may or may not be one of them. Of course I’d love to be a part of it, but it’s all good. I’m just happy to be part of the Twister original.”

For what it’s worth, it doesn’t seem like it each actors from the first movie will be involved in Twistersunless something changes soon. Twisters will be released in theaters on July 19, 2024.
