CrimeCon opens submission for 2023 Clue True Crime Awards

CrimeCon has opened nominations for its second annual Clue Awards, which recognize true crime storytelling in television, documentary film, podcasts and publishing.

“The response we received at the inaugural Clue Awards was overwhelmingly positive and incredibly encouraging,” said Kevin Balfe, Founder and Executive Producer of CrimeCon. “These awards were designed to honor creators who responsibly and poignantly shine a light on stories of justice, tragedy and advocacy. By recognizing and amplifying these powerful projects, we hope Clue can be a force for good.” in the real space of crime.

The Clue Awards recognize work in the following categories:

Television: Outstanding Episodic Series
Television: Outstanding Docuseries
Podcast : Outstanding Episodic Series
Podcast : Outstanding Docuseries
Outstanding Documentary Film
True Crime Book of the Year

The awards will also include the “Crime Fighter of the Year” award, which highlights an individual or organization’s impact on and commitment to justice for victims of crime. Last year, that honor went to the Black and Missing Foundation, which starred in HBO’s 2021 limited series “Black and Missing.”

Submissions will be accepted for review until July 31. See below for the full schedule:

Open submissions: May 22
Deadline for first submissions, reduced rate: June 9
Deadline for regular submissions: July 10
Deadline for final submissions: July 31
Appointments announced: August 2023

The 2023 CrimeCon Clue Awards Ceremony will take place on September 23 at the World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida.
