Weekly Commentary: The #Scandoval drama has taken the social media world by storm, and it’s surely reflected back to TV Academy voters. Bravo’s ‘Vanderpump Rules’ might sneak into the lineup for the first time, similar to the surprise name of its network counterpart ‘Below Deck’. Talk about a ratings boost for the Primetime Emmys (can you imagine?)

However, he has yet to fight the reigning champion, MTV’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked” and Netflix’s “Selling Sunset” which are popular with the Academy.

Weekly Commentary: Showtime successfully petitioned the Television Academy to tip its Emmy submission for the acclaimed docuseries “Couples Therapy” into this category, and it could end up in the lineup (rightly so). Ditto for “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” by Guy Fieri which could make a comeback after three years.

Weekly Commentary: Last year’s winner “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls” didn’t return this year, leaving it open for “RuPaul’s Drag Race” to reclaim his crown. That’s if former Bravo’s “Top Chef,” NBC’s “The Voice” or CBS’ “The Amazing Race” winners don’t return for another winning trip.

Outstanding Reality Contest Host

Weekly Commentary: We have learned a few things from the Emmys over the past few years. The more controversial a show or contestant is, the better their chances of a nomination (see: “Emily in Paris” and All Dave Chappelle’s Names and Wins).

Married couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey received a lot of backlash from the live(-ish) reunion of “Love is Blind” on Netflix. Does that mean the show or the hosts can’t be nominated for an Emmy? Of course, this is not the case. What’s an Emmy season without controversial endorsements? They could be.
