Please tell us about your birthday plans…

I’m not planning anything, but my ex-wife, who is now my best friend, is probably going to take me out for a very expensive meal. I look forward. We both love good food. I don’t know if there will be a nice fancy restaurant where it is very difficult to make a reservation. She would have known such a place. I look forward to that delicious meal and a nice conversation with my best friend. Also Read – Are Vijay Varma And Tamannaah Bhatia Dating? Dahaad co-star Gulshan Devaiah says: ‘Kuch to hai…’

Did you expect such a reaction from Dahaad?

I don’t think about such things. I don’t want to think too much about the consequences or the outcome. While results are important, I don’t think about results when I do it. So I try to keep my focus on what I’m doing in the process and try to focus and enjoy the process and try to do the best I can each day.
Because I feel like I have no control over the results. I can’t manipulate people into liking me or anything like that. So it’s up to them to decide freely what they think of your work and the story you’re part of. And it doesn’t exist for me to make that story for people. It also takes hundreds and thousands of other people. So I have little control. So I’m like, why should I worry about things that are out of my control? I can worry and I can make an effort at my job. And that’s what I do. And it usually works best for me because sometimes expectations are met with disappointment as well. So I’m less concerned about that. So I didn’t think about expectations. I was just thinking: this is my job. Let me try to do it the best I can.

What is your strategy for choosing out-of-the-box roles?

I just like doing things that I’m genuinely interested in. If you ask me what you want to do next, I don’t know what I want to do next. But when something comes up, I judge it. And I’m like, oh, this is interesting. Maybe I should do this. Or I don’t know if I’m genuinely interested. Maybe this is a path. So this is my process. And I also constantly try to surprise myself and also be surprised with the kind of projects that come my way. I don’t have a set pattern or anything. I am aware that the only thing I am aware of is that I would like it to be diverse. I would like my career to be as diverse and versatile as possible. As much as I can handle.

Tell us about Guns and Gulaabs with Raj & DK…

It’s a crazy series. Those two guys are crazy too. So they allowed it, they gave me complete freedom to do what I wanted to do. I know they released some pictures. I was like, please don’t show anything. Let the audience experience it and all that. But there is much more to it than meets the eye. And it’s just, it was fun, I got COVID while shooting, so that wasn’t fun. But everything else was just crazy. I hope it gets a season 2. It’s one of the craziest parts I’ve ever done. They gave me complete freedom to interpret the part in terms of how to play the scene or the character. But also, like, you know, what kind of costume, hair and many other things. There are some devices I use that I won’t tell you about. But they gave me like, yeah, you pretty much do whatever you want.

The series has a very fun and quirky star cast. Do you have a nice anecdote about the sets?

Rajkummar Rao is one of the most boring people to work with. He comes, he does his job and then he leaves. There is no chit chat, there is nothing. For example, you could imagine me and Raj sitting and talking about the craft and this and that. Nothing (laughs)! He just comes, he does his job and he’s gone. I’m like, I don’t know, like, you know, a lot of times I try to start a conversation with him. I feel like he just wants to be left alone. Usually I’m chatting with Raj or DK. I’m chatting with them or like with some of the other actors out there. Some people are curious, they come to ask me questions. For example, they want to get to know me better. I’m happy to do that. But I thought that Raj and I would, you know, be best friends. You could imagine, right, that two actors who are appreciated for their work, you could imagine that the two people would sit and talk about the craft or, you know, something like that. Nothing! ‘Kaisa hai tu, rooster theek hai’, this is our random conversation.

Duranga Season 2 Coming Soon, A Message To Fans…

Yes Yes Yes. Because it picks up where it left off and Amit Sadh is now part of the show as well.
And he’s crazy. He’s a total madman. And he’s interpreted this part in a really crazy way. And it gets really entertaining. And it’s also an emotional journey for me and Drashti. So I think there are a lot of things that the audience can expect. I mean, I get messages daily. But rather than, very soon, within the next few months, I think it should be out.

Does OTT interest you more than movies?

Look, I don’t mind doing both. Because they are both long format. And I like to work in long format. So I don’t mind doing both. If I’m interested in that, if I feel like the story is interesting to me, the characters are interesting, then I do that. But now, look, I do both. Like, 8 AM is a theatrical release. My next project, which I will shoot for, Ulajh, is a theatrical release. It’s a feature film. I would like to do both. And you know, to be perfectly honest, the theatrical business is hard to succeed because the business model is so much harder to succeed. So if you succeed, and because it’s difficult, it’s also much more satisfying. That you got audiences to the theaters, you forced them to watch a movie. And that’s why I feel like the movie stars are like Paramount. Because it’s so much exponentially harder for you to succeed with a theatrical release. So I would like to keep switching my arm there.
